Hi folks

So I'm curently a sophmore and I did some of the informal rushing event for 4 houses (wanted to do one more but they didn't host any events). Sadly I didn't get a bid from any of them partially coz of my gpa as it's a 2.8 and I only knew one person from each house (and that I barely knew him as well). I also feel that it maybe becuae ATO members were changing houses as well but even then. What do I do now?

p.s. let's put all the drama aside for a minute

Formal rush and start talking to more people if you know anyone in those houses you want to join. Joining the fraternity informally is definitely the hardest because seriously, they are only looking for maybe one or two people out of ten or a dozen. Your best chance is the rush during the summer at fraternity events. Literally, everyone gets chosen for the house they want during summer. During formal, you can tell the house is full if less than 10 people are at the fraternity. Plus, don't worry about the ATO situation. It won't affect you at the end of the day.

Thanks bud, but I was told that even formal is competitive and not a whole lot of people get selected then.

I was also wondering about summer sign, could that help? And what do you mean a house is full is less then 10 people are in?

What I mean is that all the fraternity recruitment happens during the summer. The best houses take in all their members during summer events. The whole thing about formal is that the houses don't realistically care about signing people during formal rush. SAE, TKE, PI-Kapps, Theta-Chi. The best chance is during summer events. Make sure you are presentable and don't make a fool of yourself because if one person in the fraternity doesn't like you, it's basically a no bid.

Perfect

SO then how do I get started, and when does it start? Is it something that I have to look forward to in august? Or you mean it starts at around may or something like that?

What you need to do is go talk to recruitment chairs THIS semester so they know who you are before going to summer events. If correct, you will be a junior starting next year. Fraternity summer recruitment events begin in after semester in May-August before formal. You need to live in the house too if you wish to be part of the fraternity. It is rare they want you if you won't live a semester or two in the house.

Aight, if that doesn't work. Could I switch back to formal?

Yes, you can. Just to make it clear, it might be a little awkward rushing the same house again. To be completely honest, you will definitely get a summer sign if you go to events so no worries. You sound like a cool person.

Listen A-Phi, just because you are mentally insane doesn't mean everyone else on this website is. You deleted all those negative posts about yourself because people actually read them. Who is crazy, them or you?

That's why your parents in Alpha-Phi divorced, your dad moved to the other side of the country while your mom got remarried because you were a burden upon them and a waste of time.
