money
by: FreshmanAre some houses more expensive to join than others? I cannot find costs for each house and it would be kinda awkward to ask during recruitment? I know it’s an extra cost above just attending WSU but wondering if some houses are wayyyy more than others? This is for sororities but am curious about frats too?

Honestly, you have to live in the dorms in the first year. After that you can live in the fraternity/sorority house. Realistically, it will cost $4,000 minimum general to live in a semester which includes your room and food. I think Delta-Gamma is the most expensive and I wouldn't be surprised if Phi Kappa Theta is the most expensive fraternity. Especially don't ask how much it is to be part of a house, it is give off a red flag.
$4000 minimum for room and food
$500-$1500 for alcohol and date dash shirts depending.
Don't live in the dorms after the freshman year, it is a waste of money. If you really love living in the house, continue to live there or if you want, you can just move into an apartment with a few friends or by yourself.

You can ask your rho gamma (think summer camp counselor, but sorority recruitment) and if you have a couple houses you’re interested in she can show you the cost of those houses. It’s a little touchy because they want you to join a chapter based on the sorority and not the cost, but if you can’t afford it you can’t afford it 🤷🏻♀️ there’s probably about a 1000 difference between the cheapest and most expensive chapters
