unpopular opinion

They really should shut down the Greek system here. I know it’s a big part of coug culture but so many people have gotten hurt and almost died. Most people join to blackout at frat parties every weekend. It’s a way for people to label people as below or better than others. Has destroyed people’s self esteem and self image. As much as they try to say we do a lot for the community, we really don’t and the good doesn’t outweigh the bad. Everyone knows this is true deep down and if u don’t, you’re probably part of the problem. Sorry not sorry

Psychiatric medicine is a complete lie, as a medical student getting my doctorate. There is no biological test (urine, blood, etc) or evidence that proves someone is a mentally unstable person. I have seen people with psychiatric disorders who are not truthful and just lying to get medication, mostly benzos. There is no way to prove you have a psychiatric illness. I know that for a fact because i'm am finishing my residency in neurology/brain science at an Ivy League school. Yes, I did go to WSU.

" I know that for a fact because i'm am finishing my residency in neurology/brain science at an Ivy League school. " With the conjunction of I'm, the am is not necessary in the syntax of the sentence.

Here's a question, you should ponder and get the notion, realistically, what does it feel like having no accomplishments in life with nothing in your name. You have an astute observation, but being honest, your examination is terrible.

Realistically, knew would you fall for it. I don't think that you are understanding that I'm just unconsciously using you to do whatever I want. The subconscious mind is amazing,, isn't it? You are just being manipulated and getting your strings pulled. Would you ever work for free? Of course not, but being straight, you just doing what I want you to do without realizing it.

You went to school and most likely graduated from Washington State University, you went to a below average state school yet you act like you went Yale, Princeton, or UPenn. Congrats on your below average state school degree, do you want on the back or a validation that you went to WSU. Oh wow, I'm so jealous.

I did go to WSU at Carson College of Business on a full-ride in 2 and 1/2 years, I graduated with a 4.0 but I never went to class. I barely went to class, they changed the syllabus to require students to attend class for at least 10-15% of your grade. Pretty sure everyone in class was probably super pissed off because I just aced every test and the teacher got so angry, the professor added questions that were near impossible to answer unless you had a specific different minor background. Yeah lol, it was me who aced all the test and denied everyone the curve in class. I'm probably the reason why teachers require mandatory attendance at WSU.

I legit know I could of graduated Valedictorian at WSU. I don't even know what the definitely of a A- means. Don't feel too bad about yourself, I spoke perfect English, Spanish, Catalan, Italian, French, Swiss-Italian, German, Arabic, Mandarin and Cantonese dialect of Chinese, Swedish and Maltese along with maybe another 5-6 other languages. You had absolutely no chance to beat me anyway either.

Man, I hate posts like this. You're basing your opinions off of the big, flashy, often negative news from Greek row. The stuff that gets the most clicks on the Odyssey. You never hear about the many, admittedly small, positives from Greek life. You never hear about that shy kid from high school who decided to rush on a whim and grew into a man with the support of his brothers building him up. The guy with severe insecurities about his weight/image and low self-esteem and self-confidence that found a home among men that cared about him as a person. I was a guy like this. I mentored guys like this. I watched people go through positive transformations because of their involvement in Greek life. I can say with complete confidence that I am a better person, citizen, student, and man than I was 4 years ago and I have my fraternity to thank for that. I understand there are serious issues that need to be addressed within the Greek community, but I want you to ask yourself: is it worth tossing the whole carton because of a few bad eggs?

Don't even listen to the person who wrote the original post about Greek-Life getting shut down. First, Greek-houses are not property of WSU, they are only recognized for their behavior. The reason where I am today is because of my fraternity brothers who encouraged me to do the best I can and always had my back. I'm not anywhere close to the state of Washington and I was nervous to rush because I had a feeling they wouldn't like me because I wasn't anywhere close to Washington State. My fraternity brothers always encouraged me and comforted me when I went through some of the hardest times of my life. I have had the biggest smiles on my face in the fraternity house and cried the most tears of my life in my fraternity house. It is because of my fraternity, it is the reason the person I am today. I had sixty+ guys who always had my back and gave me encouragement. Don't listen to bitter, salty OP who wrote this post. You're just basing the Greek-Community on the actions of few people who made mistakes. As previously stated, if there is a rotten apple on an apple tree, does it mean all the apples are rotten? No, it doesn't define Greek-LIfe.
