scared

by:

I’m starting in the fall and this site has me so scared. Everyone is so mean to the houses that aren’t “top”. My twin is going to UW and there is so much less drama/hate on their Greek rank between the houses. I thought I wanted to do recruitment but is this what Greek life is like at WSU? Please be honest.

But in regards to your question...I’ve been here for 3 years and there’s no actual drama between sororities. Frats get into fights sometimes but most frats don’t interact with each other at all in the first place besides walking by drunk and maybe some chirping.
The only frats that ever get involved in drama are the big 8

don’t be scared!!! i am not in a top house, and literally haven’t had any problems with people hating me or anything because of it. at the end of the day as long as you join a chapter that you feel comfortable in you will find your people and it will be okay. i didn’t even get my first or second preferences but still am so happy now, three years later going into senior year. remember that greek life doesn’t have to be your only life, you are here for school and can make friends outside of your chapter too! you’re in college now so you get to be independent and if things are too negative or causing too much drama in your life then you are free to rid yourself of them. overall i am thankful for what my chapter has brought me throughout college and would not want to have it any other way.

Honestly, every house does the same stuff. Everyone does exchanges, Greek week, homecoming, frat parties, etc. What “tier” of house you join will probably affect which fraternities you do these things with, but to be honest that’s pretty much the only difference. If you join a house whose members you vibe with and a chapter you want to be a part of, you’re going to be happy. Good luck during recruitment, the Greek system here is amazing!

Don't worry and be scared about rushing and joining a house. Nothing bad is going to happen to you and people aren't going to bother you. Just because there are certain "tiers" of sororities of popularity, that doesn't mean anything. Just be yourself, ask about the sorority, and their philanthropy events. Make sure you join a house that you connect with the most, don't join a popular house, join a sorority that you connect with and you can be friends with. Nothing bad will happen to you and you don't need to be scared about anything during rush. You should be friends with everyone in your rush group and make sure not to bad-mouth any sorority house because your Rho-Chi could be in the house you are speaking about. Just be yourself and follow your heart.

Gosh you are totally right. There are heaps of selfrankers here you just can't take too seriously. Nobody is this mean in real life. Rush whatever makes you happiest and don't give it a second thought :)

You can honestly join whatever sorority you feel closest too and they won't treat you badly. You can go where-ever you want during recruitment and to any fraternity to party.
