should my daughter join sorority?
by: dadHer safety is very important. I dont know much about this.
#1 by: Understandable
#1 Before even asking, are you willing to support your daughter financial because sororities are expensive, require membership dues and other financial obligations. Realistically, on top of the basic expenses necessary for college such as clothes, books, and shoes, you need to periodically pay this fee. Living in the sorority house is cheaper than the dorms also and eventually move into an apartment with a few of her friends.
#2 Two sides of the coin
-Academic/Philanthropy- There is a minimum gpa to be in a sorority. There are various Philanthropy events sororities participate in. Sororities keep members in "check", they are required to meet certain standards and obligations both academically and community wise.
#3 Social Side- Let's be 100% in the know, there is a social side of sororities. Yes, just like other people, your daughter will go out and have fun. With this, rather 20-30+ girls safely looking after your daughter than someone who isn't close to her. A sisterhood will watch over your daughter academically, community wise, and social wise.
I would recommend letting your daughter rush and find a house to join. Not only will your daughter will find the best friends for the rest of her life, she will have dozens of girls to watch out for her.
