It is incredibly foolish to take other people's opinions about a house you wish to join. Realistically, joining a greek house is legitimately is arguably one of the most important decisions YOU can make in college. Don't let others sway your judgement and in truth, YOU need to find where you belong. In comparison, would you ever let others have influence about where to move to or what major to pursue?
