Hello!

I'm here to answer all of your greek life questions! Ask me anything you're too afraid to ask your Rho Gammas, Greek Life reps at Orientation and all the questions you SHOUDNT ask during recruitment (i.e. parties, clothes, guys/girls, reputations)

So just shoot me a question!

my granddaughter is rushing at WSU this week. She is outgoing and a lot of fun. Grades are average, but wants to persue Business degree. Her favorites so far:
Delta Gamma
Alpha Pi
Gamma Pi Beta

Your thoughts?
Gram

im assuming the "alpha pi" and "gamma pi" is actually alpha phi and gamma phi beta. i personally as a guy have more respect for gamma phi beta, and in the looks and fun i would say delta gamma. alpha phis are in my opinion the most prettiest girls, but very shallow with people in general and judge their own girls in looks. i wish her the best thru recruitment, and i would personally recommend Gamma Phi Beta aka GPhis or Delta Gamma aka DGs.

Well these chapters are all quite different. Delta Gamma is quite involved and has a group of nice, beautiful women. Alpha Phi has beautiful girls, but many find them self-absorbed and rude. Gamma Phi Beta has nice, fun girls that like a good time. They seem like the most down-to-earth out of the three, but they have the lowest GPA of all 13 chapters and Greeks should be able to balance social, philanthropic and academic endeavors.

However these are all personal opinions and I hope she prefs with an open mind and goes with her gut feeling.

which fraternities are loved the most by sorority girls. and are Tekes, PiKapps, SAE,Sig Eps liked by the girls on Greek row. please don't go off on the brotherhood and academics, because i like these four fraternities considering those factors and i cant seem to find some difference that could narrow my decision. btw which do you personally like the most, and why over the other ones?

Tekes, SigEps and SAE are loved by top houses. Girls Love SigEps because they're nicer than most guys, girls love Tekes because they're diverse, fun and throw awesome outdoor parties and I think girls love SAE because they're a top house and throw great parties with other top houses. But SAE has some creepers. Basically everyone likes the
Big 3 ( Theta Chi, SAE and Phi Delts.) I'd go with SigEps or SAE. Maybe PiKapps.

My daughter wanted to go Greek. She has what I think are good reasons for joining: increased involvement on campus, more active social experience, having a support group when she's far away from home, and a chance to do community service. She should have been a good candidate: great grades, attractive, popular in school, with lots of extracurriculars. Despite being fiercely non-Greek during my own college experience, I've tried to be supportive. She didn't go into recruitment with pre-conceived ideas about what chapters she wanted, but after day 2 she had definite favorites, all of whom have cut her. The chapters who invited her back for house tours are all the lowest ranking. She hasn't paid attention to rankings, she "trusts in the process"--but I don't think she's going to get the experience she wants out these chapters. Is she going to hold it against me if I take a "it's not worth it, cut your losses and move on" position and recommend that she drop out of recruitment?

Well thats an unfortunate situation for her. But she's right, she should trust the process. 99% of the time, girls end up exactly where they should be. And i'm sure she'll get the experience. Every chapter goes to parties, has socials/exchanges with other fraternities and sororities and they all do community service. Although they may not be as popular, these lower houses are still apart of Greek life. If you think it's that big of a deal, she could just do informal, but you never really know which houses are participating in it. But if they dropped her then, they may do it again.

If she likes the houses, I say she should go for it! But if she accepts the bid and still doesn't feel comfortable after a while (and she isn't yet initiated) she can do informal recruitment or just do formal again.

Good luck!

Nice try with the big 3 everyone knows the original big 3 and that will never change

By: Lol
by: LMFAO

The old big three is basically dead. With most of their valuable members graduated already. pikes barely relevant in most of Greek row, theta chi might go the same way, and ATOs can't party at their house anymore... If you want to make a big three it would actually be a big 2 have to go to PhiDelts, SAE, as for honorable mentions it would be theta chi/pikapps/tekes/delts. Stop staying in the past. Because that's really pathetic. Love from the ladies of Greek row! ;)

I want to rush a sorority but i am a transfer student who is going to be 22 which is a bit on the older side. On top of that i am over weight. I want an honest opinion weather it is worth my money to rush. I really think i would fit in at some of the houses but want to know if i will be shut down for my superficial looks.

Thanks :)

By: Not sure
by: AnonyMiss

Yes, I believe you should at least go for it! As long as your grades are good, i'm very sure you'll get a bid. And no, I can think of at least 4 houses that would accept you just based on looks. But thats a guess. You never know until you actually go through recruitment!

Even if you're in a "lower" house, being apart of Greek Life is detrimental to having an active social life at WSU, honestly. You get to do so many activities that GDI's will never experience. \n\n\n\n\nGO FOR IT!

Which fraternities do most sorority girls go and hangout and party with? Like what sororities hangout more with pikapps, sae, tekes?

By: PNM
by: AnonyMiss

I'd say more DG's, and APhi's with SAE, but girls from every house like going to "top"/popular houses like the rest those.

Each girl has her favorite frat(s) no matter what house she's in, but you'll find many (especially pretty) girls that go to those three

What are your favorite lesser known houses? Frats and sororities

By: Greek
by: Greek

Sororities: AOPi. They have tons of gorgeous girls and women who are Cheerleaders and Crimson Girls. I expect them to have a good PC. A lot of houses don't give them a chance and they really need to get out more and mix with better houses if they wanna go up in the world.

Frats: PKT, Phi Tau, Theta Xi and Sigma Nu.

I honestly don't know enough about lambda to give you a sufficient answer. But they're a loser middle house, so they may be hanging out with girls in middle tier houses. But you'll be around a myriad of women from different houses, so don't worry.

And I don't know who they're homecoming partners are. And that shouldn't matter. If you like the guys and feel their vibe, then go for it. Girls shouldn't be a worry since their are plenty of girls around, especially since they'll be able to talk to guys now.

So when can i start doing informal to meet and hopefully join a fraternity. because i went during recruitment and the house i was looking to rush was only looking for a very few guys (they told us only around 3 guys, wont name the fraternity although I'm sure you can figure it out), and unfortunately i didn't get invited back. although there were a good amount of other fraternity that invited me back, i declined them because they just weren't the right fit, or my type of guys (meaning we had different interest) their was a second house that was really nice, and had very chill guys that i got along. but because i only placed my focus in the end on that one house i mention before, it was obvious i didn't get invited back. this second house i mention they were looking for a good amount of guys, and many guys i know declined their invite and choose their actual favorite. so when could i start going informal? some people and my rho chi (awesome guy) said in the first weeks of September. but what do you think, thank you if you can help!

p.s. my issue isn't going Greek i had other options remember, but actually joining a chapter i like, and feel like i fit in.

I don't know too much about fraternity recruitment, nonetheless informal fraternity recruitment, but if your Rho Chi said it was in September, then i'd just go with that. Or you can ask the houses you are interested in when informal is and see if you can get into any of their parties too so you can meet some of the guys.

A really big mistake people make during recruitment is having their heart set on just one chapter, because they fall in love with that one and cast off the other chapters that may have been a good fit for them and end up getting dropped.

So try and meet some guys in the house(s) you're interested in and then wait until September rolls around. Best of luck!
