what info about recruits do houses get?
by: Taylor
I'm excited to be coming to WSU in the fall. I would like to check out Greek life so I'm probably going to sign up for formal recruitment and I had a couple quick questions:
Before deciding to give out bids during recruitment, can and do houses look up students' GPAs from their official high school transcripts? (I'm not talking about whatever students write in their Greek Rush App profile, but houses looking up students' actual GPAs from their Official Student Records?)
And do houses get access to any other info from students' records or is it strictly just GPA?\n\n\n\n\n

most sororities take grades and academics very seriously so yes they do have your transcript. during formal recruitment if you have below a 3.0 you will be dropped by some houses. it depends on the house though. if this worries you you can consider doing informal for a certain house.

the chapters don't get your actual transcript unless you have it sent to them in a recommendation or something. however, the Greek Life office verifies your GPA through the university. Other than that, there is no other information they get from the University. Your application is a big source of information. But, chapters also solicit input from people who know you already on campus and in the chapter. Finally, your social media is a huge source of certain types of information. So, make sure your Facebook, instagram, tumblr, etc is in good shape or PRIVATE. However, if you have good social media ... you might want it to be out there loud and proud. It can work for you or against you.
