rushing spring informal
by: FutureCoug
I would so appreciate if anyone could answer my questions!
My high school grades are fine but not great so I plan to wait to rush until Spring (headed into my Freshman year)!
Here are my questions-
(1) If I wait to rush until Spring, will Sororities still be looking at my high school GPA, or just my college first semester grades?
(2) How is Spring Informal sorority rushing different?
(3) Will this help to improve my chances, or is it less likely to get into a sorority through Spring Informal?
A few more things about me, in case that helps: I'm involved in high school leadership positions and sports teams, I'm physically fit, I'm able to afford all sorority dues, I plan to have above a 3.0 all throughout college, I'm very outgoing.
Thanks so much!!

1) they will only look at your college gpa
2) DO NOT WAIT UNTIL SPRING.... not as many "good" houses do spring informal, this year only 4 or 5 out of 14 houses did it.
3)Just do fall rush...you never know what will happen and you will meet girls who will end up in houses that could help you get into a house later if thats what ends up happening.
I did fall formal then decided not to join at the time, I ended up in the house I wanted during spring informal anyways but I recommend doing formal just to meet people and for the experience.
We look at more than just grades and you have the opportunity to explain being a grade risk, but there is a chance you will be dropped.

1.) They will only look at your WSU GPA, as that is the only thing they will have access to.
2.) Not all houses participate in spring rush, and there is no formal structured rush schedule
3.) It will help improve your chances.
Also, if you do decide to rush in the fall, don't say that you "plan to have above a 3.0 in college." If you were not able to do so in high school, it is unlikely that any house will take that statement seriously. I strongly encourage you to wait until the spring, to make sure that you have a handle on the academic side of college before adding the responsibilities of Greek life.
