meaning of tiers/rankings

What difference does it actually make being in a "top" frat vs a "medium" or "bottom" tier fraternity? Is it a different experience? Is their judgement cast from others? Is it just meaningless?

Yeah it's pretty much just people wanting to say they're better or the houses they hang out with are better, which isn't bad because let's be honest everyone wants to be the most well-liked. But when it comes down to it I'm not picking my friends or relationships based off of what tier house they're in and I think most people would agree with that haha

For frats, its basically who has the best parties and pulls the hottest girls. Also, grades and philanthropy a little bit. For sororities, its based on hotness.
