TO BE READ IF YOU ARE SAD ON BID DAY!
you've finished recruitment, given this entire week everything you could have given, now you've opened your bid card and instant sadness because you didn't get your first choice, hell! maybe not even your second choice! this week has been mentally emotionally even physically exhausted. rush is a wild roller coaster and it doesn't always go as we planned or had hoped.
heres some honest advice/thoughts from someone who wasn't happy on her bid day but now couldn't imagine being in any other house:
- you can cry (it's ok)
- TRY to get a couple bid day pictures (i didn't and regret it now/you might not be in the mood but fake a smile anyways)
- know that there are people in your sorority that didn't put them first too, there is likely someone that was sad on their bid day (it might not be obvious/ they might approach you if you are openly sad)
- after bid day celebrations die down, bid day can be kind of awkward (feels even more so when you are sad on top of it) thats normal, even happy ppl r feeling awkward
- you will naturally make friends, i promise
- it takes awhile but the sting of rejection fades (sounds dumb but i know there are people out there that know the feeling) you will be proud to wear your letters, it might not be immediately but it will happen.
i can't imagine my life if my first choice had given me a bid. I hope you will eventually too.
