Are letter of recommendation common here? Or when a sorority gets them does it help or not do anything unless you are a legacy?

No, they're not super common or necessary and they won't guarantee you into the house. But, we do notice them and it will make you stand out during open house round because we'll be like "oh she got a letter from so and so". After that, it's just based off of you though.
