sigma kappa had an unusually high number of girls who preffed only at sigma kappa and then afterwards put them first during prioritizing. panhellenic promises to PNMs that they are guaranteed bids from at least one house if they put down (prioritize) all the chapters they attended on preference day, even if it was just one chapter. SK's mistake was they should have anticipated this by cutting more girls going into preference.

Sigma Kappa did not have full house quota (114 members) after this year's quota of 37 so they could use FFR to extend bids to girls in order to reach their 114 member quota.

This number is what keeps the top houses from being able to give bids to more than quota so all of the chapters have relatively equal numbers.

And yes, if a PNM makes it to preference and then maximizes her options after pref panhellenic does guarantee that she will get a bid.

SK is over capacity and getting as many bids as they did was not what they expected. As stated earlier, too many girls put them as a priority and they should have cut more girls. They are so happy with all the girls and have welcomed all of them and found a way. They are 150 now. They have had to put 7 of their new freshman in dorms because there house could not accommodate how many girls they got on bid day. Additionally, they have girls sleeping on the floor as they order new beds and dressers to accommodate. Kudos to a SK for doing so well and attracting so many girls.

You are stretching the truth as far as you can. Panhell was right.

Getting such a high number above quota most likely means that a lot of people choose not to take their bids to Sigma Kappa when the bids are offered. In other words, Sigma Kappa has terrible retention.

53 bids may have been offered, but I doubt 53 bids were taken and others may drop down the line so they won't be initiating 53 girls.

You are right, only 52 of the 53 took the bids. How many other sororities have to house 6 new freshman in the dorm because they don't have room?

Cause they went for quantity over quality.
