Wtf is recruitment this year

by: bagofapples

Is anyone else confused and discouraged with recruitment this year? A lot of people I know are not getting houses they liked back when I feel like we should be…

give other houses a chance. a lot of girls drop when they don't get a "top house" when they would be perfectly happy in another house (i speak from experience i was so sad when i got dropped from top houses but i love my house sm and don't regret a thing). honestly just keep an open mind until you join. then if you don't like it, just drop before you get initiated, and try cob if you still want to join a house

drop before initiation is risky bc of housing tho, would not recommend. if you don’t see yourself liking any houses you have at pref then just don’t sign mraba and cob

the RCs are saying that not all houses are doing COB this year. confusing and like maybe a bluff because hearing like 100 out of 400 dropped yesterday so MCs are goin to be so small

Mcs will be small, but don’t drop just bc you didn’t get a top house. Top houses are the ones that won’t be cobing even if most mcs are smaller

Ok hot take here, but if you didn’t get houses back “that you liked” that doesn’t mean the process wasn’t mutual. Panhellenic isn’t going to let the “top” houses take as many girls as they like just because that’s where pnms want to be. The objective is to have 18 strong houses filled with great women, hence quota. And honestly girls are dropped from houses for lots of reasons… legacies, RFM percentages, maybe they didn’t like you or honestly thought you’d be happier somewhere else. You not getting a “top” house and complaining about it makes it seem like you’re in this more for clout than sisterhood. If that’s your attitude then good luck with cob, we’ll see right through that.

Panhellenic’s goal is to keep all of the houses alive. The problem is even though most of the girls rushing go into it with an open mind, once they meet all the houses a lot of the girls they don’t see themselves fitting in with bottom tier houses. Then when these girls only get bids from lower tier houses because Panhellenic is limiting all of the houses to small quotas, then a lot of these girls drop.
So now the sorority system, which has seen overall numbers plummet in recent years, is losing these girls, when I’m fact all of the sororities they want to be in have plenty of room, but Panhellenic won’t let them sign any more than their mandated quota. Not a great system.
