Deciding on the house to join/rush

by: SEAInsider

When rushing don't only think about "tiers" in regards to UW.

First off, this isn't an SEC school where Greek Life literally has in fluence in every aspect of the university. UW Admin does not really support greek life much (evident from how mid Greek week was) Tiers do not matter as much here.

Look at the # of lifelong members of the house you are rushing, more members = higher likelihood in finding a job/connection after graduating.

Ask how much dues are, higher "tier" houses can ask up to $6000+. See if the condition of the house and the events the house host are worth it or not.

See if the house are you joining requires live-in and for how long. Many houses here are small and many MCs/PCs have to liveout.

Try to rush with a friend/friends, will be more fun and less intimidating for those who are not familiar with anything greek at all.

This is an STEM academic school in the end, Greek Life here is objectively worse in the party department than other regions, but it's still something worth looking into.

This is why one of the “bottom” houses may be worth it for incoming freshmen. There’s plenty of houses w connections that don’t throw the BEST parties, but if you were looking to only party in college and not get an education, go to WSU.
