It depends on what you are looking for really...

17th is a fantastic scene for parties and being in the center of it. Classic Greek experience on beautiful street. It's everything if you like to party hop.

However, some people like a short 1-2 min walk to party and then be able to leave the noise behind by living off Greek row. This way they can have best of both worlds: party then be actually able to sleep and study in peace. These girls still get invited to all the parties, but can also leave them behind if they need quiet to study and sleep.

Pros and con to both:

Imagine having to walk longer in winter rain and cold if you dont live on 17th for parties.

Now imagine the same for football games and working out at the IMA where say 19th is a shorter walk back.

Then imagine in spring trying to study and hearing constant partying, vomiting, and thumping during midterms. Imagine it being hot, but unable to keep window open to sleep because of constant partying on 17th.

Really pros and cons to both. There are top houses that are located in both situations which means figure out what you want and talk to the houses about what they love and dislike about where their house is located. Hopefully they are blunt about ups and down sides.

I agree. pros and cons to both. 17th for more up all the time. off the row for a mix of party and chill time.

There are super fun, top frats all throughout the Greek system area and as someone who’s in a house not on 17th I can guarantee you that it’s just as easy to get to parties and you will still be surrounded by other frats and sororities

The Greek Houses are evenly spread in a 6 by 3 block radius between 17th to 22nd. The epicenter is 19th. It's hard to tell since you dont get to do in person recruitment this year but location really doesnt matter as much except to some old houses trying to make 17th seem elite because of some trees to try to hold on to their rank as a top house. Sad they are trying to make that a selling point, rather than sisterhood. The comment above says it all.Ask the girls what they like and dislike about their location. Figure out what is most important to you. Do you need some down time to chill or are you always ready for more? Some places are more quiet so you can take a break for the noise, others are up all the time. It's a personal choice of what you want to get out of your time here at UW.

Tbh a lot of good houses r not on 17th and i would say it literally does not matter. frats like zetes, tke and sigma chi are better than the 17th houses tho 🤭 regardless u shouldn’t be making a choice of what house you join based on physical location that should be the least of your considerations!!

This. It really doesnt matter. However everything else equal, I'd probably choose a house in the center so 19th or maybe 18th or 20th.
