Sorority Time Commitment
by: PNMI plan on rushing; however, I’m worried about the time commitment of being in a sorority. What kind of events (philanthropy, meetings, parties, etc.) are girls usually required to attend each week? I want to be able to join clubs and get involved in research without stretching myself too thin.

You’ll have chapter once a week which is usually less than 1 hour. A few times throughout the year you’ll have philanthropy events (which are over course of 3 days typically) and you can choose to go to other philanthropies. There may be 1 or 2 events a quarter for your sorority. You are never required to go to parties!!
Fall quarter is typically the busiest since every house has mandatory programming, but most of it is before school starts.
There is a little time commitment, but it is really not bad at all. Like most of the girls in my house work or do research of have an internship; and a lot of them do that on top of being in other UW clubs/sports/STEM classes/ house positions, etc.
In short the time commitment is not bad at all and is very doable.
