Before rush and during rush you will hear girls talk about top houses/ not wanting to be in certain houses because they aren't good enough or have a certain reputation. Rush can be very superficial but when you go in the house think about if you could see yourself becoming best friends with these girls because you live there. If you don't like them, or if they are mean there literally is no where for you to escape to. If you do not get along with the girls what could have been the best four years of your life can quickly become the worst four years.
Also to note, greekrank is kind of BS but there are general trends that are correct and it is not something to ignore if every post you see about a house says that they are mean or that they haze, however do not let it be the only factor in choosing a house. Look for the girls you want to be like at the end of your four years at UW.

the best piece of advice i heard before rush was that you don’t want to end up somewhere where you always feel like you HAVE to be perfect all the time. i got pi phi back all the way to pref, but I picked a “lower” house because i truly felt like i’d have to pretend to be something i wasn’t if i went with that house. now i have friends in that house and i adore them, but i made the right choice for myself. just because you click with some girls during rush, or you might be able to be friends with all sorts of different people, doesn’t mean that you need to mold yourself to fit in a certain house because that’s where you think you belong. the right house is the house where you truly feel you can be yourself and have room to grow into the person you want to be. that fit is different for everyone and even within a house, every single girl is different. honestly, there are many girls even within my own house that i could see doing well in any number of other houses, but they chose mine for a reason. it’s the same for other girls in other houses i’m sure

Very true! I had KD and loved the girls in that house so much! However, I ended up choosing a different house because I felt more comfortable. I still love KD girls but when I hangout with them I realized I made the right choice for me as I feel I can’t always be myself around them and don’t vibe with my personality as much as the house I am now in!
