Why do people care so much about house ranks at UW?

Not trying to say this in a rude way, but why does UW care so much about greek life tiers? Most of the posts here are about ranks? Does this actively reflect how people value ranks in the Greek system at UW. I know this website is Greek rank but I feel like other schools don’t care as much.
