looking to get into engineering, would sigma chi be a good fit for an engineer?

I don't really think any particular house is a good fit for any particular major (though it being greek life business is super common). It's about whether or not you fit in with the guys, everything else comes second.

That being said, Sigma Chi will likely be more demanding for pledging than some other houses, and given that engineering is tough, it may be a difficult pledge quarter. But it's just that quarter, which IMO, is hardly anything to worry about if you think it's the house for you.
