Has anyone on here gone through formal as a sophomore? What is the process like and is it easier to get into the house you want?

Honestly it’s a lot harder to get bids from the houses you want since they prefer younger girls. Just think if they were debating between two PNMs they both really liked they’d go for the freshman since she’ll be there longer. Just prepare to get dropped easier but don’t get discouraged since houses still have a quota to meet for sophomores

Interesting... good to know since I’ve always heard it’s easier as a sophomore because of quota

I’d say it’s harder if your grades aren’t good — usually coming from high school you are coming w a better gpa, does that make sense? Also other sophomores could know more people in houses or whatever

The "best" sophomores are fought over by top houses, so a pretty, smart, fun Soph has it easier. Quotas mean that even top houses often get stuck with a marginal soph.
Average sophomore--OK grades, OK looks, not super outgoing but not an awkward weirdo is going to do OK, won't get dropped unless she's a jerk

I know sophomores who got bids into top houses. If your grades are stellar then you have an excellent chance. If your grades are just ok be prepared to really shine w personality and looks

Define “stellar” grades. What gpa is “ok”?

try to have at least a 3.0, anything below that makes it rough considering the Sophs who usually rush don’t have a low gpa
