want to rush but want i dorm with best friend
by: pnmSo basically, my best friend and I have been planning to rokm together for years now, and learning that we have to move in right away has discouraged me from rushing. However, at the same time, I have always pictured myself in a sorority like how my mom was and my sister so being in a sorority is something I’ve always wanted to do. I have my hands tied and I don’t really know what to do. Do I ditch my best friend and rush or dorm with my beast friend and not rush? I’d just like to hear some pros and cons, thank you. Also, were anyone of you guys in the same boat?

i think you will be sad if you do not rush, you can always do cob later but its nice to be in a house starting off the school year, i think you should convince your friend to rush also and then when you are upperclassmen you can always get a house together and maybe even combine friend groups if you dont end up in the same sorority

It's not one or the other. You can do both. You can live in a res hall your freshman year and then go through Panhellenic Recruitment as a sophomore (plenty of girls do this). You could also wait and see what sororities are eligible for informal recruitment in Winter and Spring of your freshman year and try to join then and ride out your housing contract.

You should rush to try and see if you’d like greeklife. If you don’t like the vibes of it you could room with your friend or like others said before, you could try and get your friend to rush too. It doesn’t hurt to rush because rushing during the fall will have the most House options for you. Not all houses rush afterwards.
