gpa and rushing

by: Wondering

How much does gpa matter when rushing for a sorority as an incoming freshman? Around what range do girls start being cut off for their gpa?

3.5 is a common cut off for incoming freshmen but it varies by chapter

i think 3.0 is the cut off for not being on sopro for most houses so as long as you are a sophomore above you should be fine i really dont think it matters that much unless you did worse than that and if you are in high school its probably higher

sophomore situation is complicated by quotas, so it's harder to have a clear grade risk number if panhellenic is forcing you to take a certain number of sophs (or jrs)

BUT... in general if you're not pulling at least a 3.5 in college, unless you're in a highly competitive program you may not be able to handle adding greek life in your life and houses may not be inviting you back after open house because you're a risk

so would that mean if you had a college gpa of 3.45 it might be hard to get invited back after the first round ??

honestly probably not, it differs from house to house but the other factors tend to outweigh grades
