making friends

by:

Someone please give me some advice. I'm a freshman and just joined a sorority and am having so much trouble making friends. I feel like I can't relate to a lot of the girls in my house and a lot of them have already formed super tight bonds so I feel extremely on the outside. I don't feel super close to anyone or like I'm part of a group. In high school I had no problems making friends and always had an extremely tight group. I just feel so out of place now. I always ask people to hang out but no one ever comes to me first. Did anyone else struggle with this? Any advice helps please thank you:)

You’re probably in the wrong sorority then

That is not true. Relationships don't just appear because you joined the right sorority. Cmon now.

It took me 2 whole quarters until I made solid friendships in my sorority!! Friendships change a lot in the first year so don't be worried. I'd encourage you to keep going to events, going out, and being friendly. It can be hard, but I guarantee you're not the only one who feels that way.

you're not alone
it's going to be ok
some people like to make a big show of how superclose they are, like bffs on bid day
I promise that more people in your pc feel like you do
keep reaching out
people appreciate it, esp the ones who are feeling even more lost and awkward than you

Hey girl, I’ve been exactly where you are now. It’ll get better! Sit with girls in your house during class, sit with different ones during lunch, go on QFC or coffee runs! If it’s something you’re into, go fratting and have a good time with your sisters and get drunk (but not too drunk)! I know putting yourself out there can be exhausting when people don’t do the same for you, but soon your efforts will pay off ) and when it comes to picking your big, pick the girl who you can tell your darkest secrets to and she’ll will still love you unconditionally. IT WILL GET BETTER!!! Good luck <3
