Be bubbly. Remember you are trying to impress who ever you are COBing for so look put together. Be interested in the house you are visiting/the girls you are meeting and ask questions(1. It helps us remember you. 2. It shows you have put thought into joining by wanting to know specifics). Emphasize what you want to be involved in and why, don't just say you wanna join a house just because you didn't make friends in the dorms. Have a decent first quarter GPA. Be genuine. A good way to go into COB is with the intention of trying to make a friend in the person/people you are being recruited by. Most importantly: keep an open mind. If you get invited to a cob event by a house that you heard someone say was "bottom" or "weird" go to the event and make up your own mind. Don't let others make the decision for you before meeting people for yourself.

Most if not all houses just switched recruitment/COB directors so they might not have had the opportunity/ have been waiting to get their new elects in place. Also COB won't start up again until the start of winter quarter

Nope. They already filled their rich, shallow girl quota during FFR.

Total won't be readjusted until a couple days into the quarter so some chapters are not eligible to COB and some are. You should make sure that your COB interest profile on the panhellenic website is up to date so they know you are still interested in joining a chapter. If you know any Greek Women you should ask them if their chapters are doing COB and they can put in a good word for you if she thinks you'll fit in to the chapter. Remember to be very friendly, ask questions, and don't be afraid to open up. Think of what you're looking for in a chapter, in a big sister, in your friends? If they have room for you in the chapter house they will want you to move in. Make sure you choose the chapter that makes you the best version of yourself. Also if you don't want to COB you can do FFR, secondary quota passed in panhellenic so you will not be dropped from chapters because you are not a freshman anymore!

do you know what the trend in past years have been like? in terms of how many new sororities usually become eligible during winter snd spring quarter?

and would you mind commenting further on the change for secondary quota in FFR ? I sense from this thread many people are interested in COB, which may have limited spots. If we end up in FFR as a sophomore, are there now increased spots for sophomores interested in sororities?

COB only happens for houses who either did not get enough members during formal recruitment to meet quote or if members from the house dropped after joining. There is no specific number of spots set aside for COB. If girls dropped from any houses fall quarter, than there will be more houses eligible for COB
