All houses are good. Really do your best to drop that stereotypical mindset before recruitment it literally will do you nothing but harm.
That said you can definitely rush, but if your heart is set on being in a traditionally top house it is almost certainly not going to work out. They get their pick of the PNMs and freshman are just much more desirable.
