informal recruitment

Is informal recruitment considered “just as good” at formal recruitment ? Do people think less of you? Do you still do/get the same kind of welcome stuff? Does it depend on the sorority?

All I'll say is the sororities that do informal don't accept as many girls so it's a bit harder to get a bid, but no bad connotation of doing informal!
