by: Greek GuyWhy do you all think that our greek percentage is so low (7%)?

#3by: Unity
Theta Chi and PIKE recently had a joint event, we need to see more of this in the future to build more greek unity across all organizations. Greek culture at vcu can be improved, really just depends which approach individual chapters and members take towards unity. Just be friendly with everyone no matter their affiliation, not a hard concept.

After being in a fraternity for the past 3 years, I highly suggest advising rushes to check out multiple organizations instead of sucking freshman to come to all your events and talking bad about other fraternities. It's really about where people fit in best and helps with new member retention rates. I can't tell you have many new members we've had that regret pledging a certain organization because it's the only one they were exposed too. This leads to stronger chapters with people fitting in where they belong and less overall hate towards other chapters

low percentage for a number of reasons. 1. The school is in a city-greek life is more prominent in places with college towns where they can have big houses, 2. Most schools with big greek lifes have a much larger % of white people (vcu diversity is great don't get me wrong but culturally many minorities are turned off to greek life for good reason)-uva is 61% tech is 69% and jmu is 77.2% white. 3-Big arts programs and culture of a school like vcu doesn't really appeal to a lot of people who would join fraternities. 4-Greek life is becoming more and more culturally frowned upon every year so schools don't want to highlight it (for example uva releases their greek life statistics in the fall instead of the spring when all the new members join to make it seem like uva is less greek than it is.
