spring rush

by:

New to the frat scene here at VCU, deciding on rushing Pike, Dchi, Fiji spring semester. Anybody have any opinions? Main things I'm looking for is brotherhood, academics being somewhat a priority, and the most fun/best parties.

I can't say much about Fiji because I never rushed them but pike and delta chi parties are definitely a great time, can't really go wrong with either from that standpoint. Delta chi has a decent brotherhood but I've heard of some internal conflicts. Overall not bad. As for pike, despite their large size they seem to maintain a strong brotherhood and are pretty active within the community. It helps that they have a large chapter house where a lot of them live. From a grades standpoint, you must hold a certain gpa in order to pledge, be initiated, and remain an active member in the fraternity. This goes for all fraternities because it is required by the IFC so academics are taken seriously throughout vcu Greek life. My best advice I can give to you is to check out as many fraternities as possible and see which guys you click with the best. Don't make a decision solely based off of tier or rankings. Enjoy rush and meet lots of people

I'll definitely rush all three of the organizations to get a better feel for the type of guys that are in each and how they operate as a whole. I really appreciate your response with the insight you have, tbh just using greekrank to get a bit of a feel for the three frats before going into rush. I look forward to meeting new folks during rush and hopefully finding the organization that best fits me. Thanks bro.

I would also make the suggestion that you get to know many fraternities during rush, and not limit yourself to what Greek rank says, as much of the information here is incredibly biased.

Each fraternity has its own unique strengths and weaknesses here at VCU. However, the typical trend I've noticed is that those who focus more on the social aspect tend to lack in the areas of service & academics (and vice versa). Finding a chapter that has the right balance between academics and socials really depends on your opinion of what that balance would look like. So have fun with rush, go to many different fraternities events, and see who you click with.

And on a less serious note, the more rush events you go to from different chapters, the likelihood that you'll get more free stuff (food, giveaways, ALCOHOL)
