spring recruitment
by: sophLast formal recruitment I left midway through the second day because of a family emergency. Will I have the same chances of getting in a sorority if I rush again this year because now I'm a sophomore? Also will the sororities that cut me most likely cut me again or give me another chance?

That's unfortunate, I'm really sorry to hear. I think that sophomores do have a slight disadvantage because they will be there one less year, but because of your circumstances, it's way better than just dropping out and rushing again the next year. Many sororities take at least one sophomore, so I think you will be fine (if you have a decent personality). Also, if you're nice and look presentable and seem to connect to the girls you talk to, I can't see the sororities cutting you again for that reason alone. Good luck!!

Hi! I was previously a recruitment chairman for my sorority. Generally speaking, we were much more selective with sophomores however, each sorority is required to take a certain amount (determined by Greek life, not that sorority). Speaking from my personal experience, we hold a much higher standard for sophs than we did for freshman since we're generally only going to take 3-4 new sophs per year. So yes, we would not keep someone who we had previously cut. However, having to leave for something out of your own control would have absolutely no effect on our opinion of you. In fact, in most cases, we would get really really excited if we thought we found a hidden gem who missed out on the first time around. So go for it! You never know what will happen.

No. Some girls who re-do recruitment actually get into ones that dropped them the previous year. It all depends who you talk to during recruitment.
