How does one actually rank a frat/sorority

Let’s be honest here, if you want to share your rankings please give a better description on how you got there. When asked what’s the best frat or sorority .. who can really answer that question? Everyone is going to say it’s theirs. What events other than parties can freshman go to to see who they really are and how they may fit in prior to rush in the fall? Honest answers please.
