Don't know about a new sorority. I think i may have heard that. That would be great because it will give more girls a chance to join.
Not exactly sure how snap bids work, but it is my understanding that during recruitment the houses try to predict how many bids they can give out, sometimes they cut too many girls early and have to get girls later. I don't think it a bad thing, they just predicted their numbers incorrectly. NOTHING wrong with a snap bid if it is a house you want to join. And, who cares if you got a snap bid? You still have the choice to reject it, and the house won't give you a snap bid if they don't want you!
I think each house last spring got 60-65 girls. Those are really good numbers for all the houses. Yay!
If you do go through recruitment, try to keep an open mind and find your people. The system works, even if the insecure participates will try to constantly rank the houses.
I really liked one of the "top 3" houses and got cut. I felt really rejected. But, ultimately, I learned that I probably wasn't a good fit for them. They knew that, I just didn't at the time. It's funny, I really didn't feel comfortable with them during recruitment, but wanted to be in a "top" house and paid way too much attention to the rankings on this site. I was willing to try to get in with a "top" house instead of wanting to go with the girls who were a bit more like me. In a way, even though any rejection stings for a little while, I joined the house that I liked from the start. It worked out for me and for the house who cut me.
Truthfully, and you will hear this over and over, listen to your heart. I think there are just a handful of women and men who care that much about the rankings. Those are the insecure people you want to avoid.
Good luck! I have enjoyed my sorority, but I have lots of other activities that I think i enjoy more. I participate just enough- but I'm just not that in to it like some of the girls in my "pledge" class. (I don't think we can use that word anymore?)
