is it harder for sophomores to rush?

by: sophomore

I'm a sophomore who rushed last year and it just didn't work out for me. Am I at a disadvantage? Am I doomed to the bottom tier if I don't have super close connections?

With that attitude you’re doomed to be dropped from the bottom tbh

I’m a junior who rushed sophomore year and i got everything I hoped for and more. I know some girls who rushed sophomore year and they would go into rounds where they had a million friends and still got dropped on the first day, and I also know people who got info the sororitys they wanted without knowing anybody. The biggest difference rushing freshman and sophomore year is you are responsible for being better at conversation and being more interesting because you’ve been at Villanova for longer so you’re expected to be more involved

Sororities don’t take a ton of sophomores but that’s just because less sophomores rush. Honestly In my friends experience rush goes a lot better sophomore year anyways than freshman year. I know girls who freshman year ended up getting bids from pi ph and agd (not that anything is wrong with them but it just wasn’t what they wanted), didn’t accept, and rushed the next year and got top tier

Top tiers still take sophomores. Last year Tridelt axo and aphi collectively took a considerable amount of sophomores, not sure what kappa did I don’t know too much about them

Doesn’t work out for most sophomores. Just being honest. Realistically, why would a sorority take a soph over a brand new freshman unless they were really cool or had best friends in it. Every sorority will take a few every year but again odds are slimmer than the first go around.
