fall 2013 fraternity
by: utsagreek
Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) : Had a very large pledge class that had a mixture of good and not so good guys. Seems to be a little disorganized on campus and they didn't really get super involved with anything. Had some great parties which helped them get a good social reputation this year with other sororities and girls. One of the best on campus!
Kappa Sigma: (KS) Probably the most diverse fraternity on campus. Will not be your typical southern fraternity experience. With their large size they have the same problem as ATO with a mix of great and not so great guys. Grades are a problem with this chapter. Not overly involved on campus. Parties are good but not frequent enough. Solid chapter!
Lambda Chi Alpha: Small. Not very socially involved as some of the other fraternities on campus. Grades are VERY good with this chapter. Only had one member with a GPA lower then a 2.0. Seem to be relative unknowns.
Pi Kappa Phi: Average sized fraternity. (See Lamdba Chi Alpha rating)
Sigma Pi: Very good at inter-murals and have a very good party reputation. Not as involved as they could be but they still do a fine job. They went a little too diverse the last few pledge classes and that looks bad for them. One of the best on campus!
Tau Kappa Epsilon: (TKE) Had trouble recruiting this past year. Known as a party fraternity and had trouble living up to that this past year. Going the way of KS with their diversity which is not good. Starting to fall but a good pledge class can turn it around!
#10by: your Opinion!
Obviously all greek life members are biased towards their sorority or fraternity and that's all because of pride (which is great!) but at the end of the day, it's up to the PNM! Only because a certain sorority or fraternity is "TOP TIER" doesn't mean it's the BEST for you! It's all a personal preference. The "Top" sorority/frat may have members who you don't particularly get along with but that doesn't mean that because you don't like them you aren't joining another good fraternity or sorority!
Fraternities have a more personable recruitment process than sororities (in my opinion) just because it's based on their own time schedule and what not whereas sororities have a scheduled amount of time and days to get to know PNMs. Bearing that in mind, it is easy to believe what you see on this website and what other people tell you about each sorority because you have less time to form your own real opinion (girl PNMs), but we make it work!! But it's SO important to try and form your own opinion of some sort. Sure, listen to some of the gossip about each Frat and sorority but always keep in mind that those are OTHER people's opinions...not yours! I hope everyone goes through an awesome recruitment process :) GOOD LUCK!!

I mean it's better to be founded in the South, but LXA and Phi Delt are great national fraternities. Some of the fraternities with strong Southern reputations and histories like Sigma Chi, Phi Delt and DKE were founded up North.
