Apparently they changed the number of girls they could let in. So sororities has promised girls bids but then today had to tell them they didn't have anything and that they should try rushing in the fall....even though they had already said they had a spot

I went to 2 cob events and then was told 'sorry we were planning to give Bids but panhellenic changed our house quota and we can't give any now':( I went to Greek Expo. Got all ready for 2 events, made conversation for hours, got all hopeful because girls told me they wanted me, and then said basically 'sorry nvm'. It's against Pan's own rules (section 9) to change the house quota now too.

Going into the expo, only 6 houses were supposed to be having COB events. Chapter total changed and I believe only 4 hours were left to give out bids. Panhellenic did this to HELP the 4 chapters who need more members who aren't at CT. It's to strengthen the Panhellenic community.
As for you being "promised" a bid, that's totally on the chapter who did that and they are the ones who broke the rule. Bid promising is completely not okay and happens in the fall too. Chapters could actually get in a lot of trouble for that.
And bids have been given out - so the people saying no chapters were taking girls are wrong.

Who were the original six houses going into Expo who were having COB events? Of course, this whole thing is sad for the girls hoping to get bids, but also for those two houses who wanted them but were told at the last minute that they couldn't take new girls. Sad all the way around. Don't judge UTK Greek life by this. We have so many great sisterhoods that you should give another chance next fall.

And for all of you complaining about the incident with not being able to take girls get over it because it was not the chapters fault. Their nationals contacted them the day after the expo and told them they were not able to take more girls because the chapter total was calculated wrong beforehand. They were just as disappointed as you were and felt real bad about sending out that email. I'm not in that chapter but I heard the whole story, don't let it bother you and go through rush in the fall

If they knew the day after the expo why did they have a party that night and invite people to another party? And then send an email saying they were cancelling that party 'because of the weather'?

I was also sent an email yesterday saying the party was cancelled because of weather and DZ was working on rescheduling? So this isn't true?? I wondered how others were still having parties despite the weather! This makes me sad as I wasted all week hoping and now would have been waiting around to get the email that will never come. Why lie?

I got an email as well saying the party last night was cancelled due to weather and they were working on something else? Is this not the case?? If not, shouldn't we be told??

Are they going to have another party and give bids or were they told they couldn't like phi mu? If they aren't giving bids, they need to email the girls who were invited to the party and let them know what's going on because it's so rude to keep people hanging.
