Is sorority recruitment competitive and does it help if I'm a legacy? Do sophomores get bids?

Yes, many sophomores get bids. Being a legacy usually means that you'll get an automatic invite back to 2nd round for that house and that the chapter looks into you more during the summer. But from there it really doesn't help.
