top 4 not so much...
by: ????Coming from west TN for rush, I was told over and over by a LOT of people, alums and current students alike, about a 'core top 4' of adpi, chi o, tri delt, and phi mu. Basically any one of these were 'worth the $ and time and don't settle for anything else'. Is this still true? Tri Delt and Phi Mu took girls with iffy reps from our area, ADPi cut everyone, chi o pledged the more nice religious girls. Are these still the 'top'. It doesn't seem so on here, but everywhere but this site, people say yes.

Someone told you not to settle for anything else? What very, very bad advice and faulty info. Too many girls get caught up in "top, ranks, tiers, core whatever." Once you are on campus nobody cares except for insecure girls who anonymously rank houses on this site. It is totally agenda driven and not to be taken seriously. People just need to ditch the elitist attitude as if what letters you wear will make you or break you. It's ridiculous!

No this is not the core 4. All strong houses with some good girls and some not so good girls. tri delt and phi mu are still generally placed on top but they're nothing special anymore. chi o has always been a pretty solid ranked middle tier and adpi has dropped because lower because of the cattyness of their girls and lack of pan involvement. Honestly different areas of TN see different houses as top. Glad you stuck out rush and found a house you're happy in.

You don't even understand the concept of "core 4" and you look very foolish. It has very little to do with current popularity or how "pretty" the members are. It has to do with longevity and history over the years. You are so hot to say you have "replaced" or "passed" someone. Just simmer down, you obviously don't know what you are talking about on this subject and it is embarrassing.

#8by: In support of the OP,
Lots of you on this board want to redefine "top" or "Core 4" or whatever you want to call it, but there are 2 realities whether you like them or not. First, at all southern schools the old line "top" sororities are the ones that pledge a whole lot of the girls from the wealthy and most prestigious high schools and cities of their states. I'm not one of those people and I'm not saying it's a good thing, but I understand how it works and you are misguided if you think that part does not exist. What has changed for the better is that since RFM began almost every former mid tier chapter at every SEC school has been strengthened, and fantastic girls who are out of state or don't have those "old line" connections now have GREAT options. There is very little gap between most of the chapters at UT; they all have a great mix of girls who love their houses.. Be happy, stop bashing and quit trying to "one up" each other.

Good for you. You were smart to stick it out and not let all the "talk" deter you. I'm sure many girls who dropped wish that they had done the same. There is no reason not to be happy in your (gasp!) lower tier house!
