by: ???How is this years KKG pledge class and what is kappa generally like at UTK? and do you have to have a lot of connections to get in?

Since you asked......
Kappa is a good group of girls. I mean honestly any sorority at UT is good, we go to an SEC school with over 1000 girls rushing every year.
However, KKG has gotten a bad reputation, especially the last few years, for being mean, partying a lot, and not exactly keeping it classy. Obviously that doesn't mean EVERY Kappa is like that, as a matter of fact I know some very sweet KKGs, but you get the idea.
They are typically considered a bottom tier sorority because of the reasons mentioned earlier along with having a low GPA overall and not placing in very many events (only 1 ACE event last year) so no you don't really have to have any connections, and they say recommendations are required, so I would get one, but I guarantee there will be girls in their next pledge class without them.

Kappa is generally thought of as middle to lower middle tier if you're of the tier mentality. They do not target a certain area (although Memphis is starting to make a showing.) Lots of cute OOS girls are represented as well. They are a fun, laid back bunch and don't do a lot of drama. It is not as easy to get in as the above poster tends to think, and I assume that recs are an important part of their recruitment. They don't claw and scramble for positioning in the ranks and are confident in what they are, what they do and their sisterhood. I notice other houses trying to take advantage of this on this site but the reality is that Kappa is much preferred by most pnms over those groups. We love the pretty, artsy, genuine kappa ladies!
