rush & being greek

by: Active

You've probably read this a thousand times, but I really hope some of the PNMs on here really take this to heart. Greek life is what you make it. Never walk into a house and think you are better than the girls there. There are plenty of girls in a house with a 4.0, beauty, community involvement, athletic ability etc...one house may have more of one thing than the other but that's ok! Some of the "bottom" houses are newer or don't have the SEC presence the other houses do and so haven't had the best alum support, and so aren't considered "top" by some. Know that you have the potential to change a house, for better or for worse. It really hurts as an active to be written off or see a PNM have that look that just screams "I'm better than this place". You are not. You are equal to every girl in each house, and every PNM next to you. We are all just trying to find true friends & girls who will make our house a home. Go in with a positive attitude in every house & don't let any reputation, positive or negative, be the major influence in where you end up. Have an open heart & mind and be yourself. Don't become a different person because of the letters you receive on bid day. Always be kind & considerate, some girls forget that the moment Rush is over (this goes for actives as well)! Good luck to everyone and I pray you find a chapter that truly makes you happy.

great post OP. Now that preference is over... the biggest piece of advice I would give anyone is not to look at the upperclassmen, but who is in the room with you on preference, because they will be your best friends, bridesmaids, etc. Look at those girls and determine who you want to laugh and cry with for four years. it's really that simple.
