How important are legacies here? I am a legacy for one chapter but I don't want to get pigeon holed into choosing them if its not where I fit best. Will other chapters write me off because they think I will automatically choose the chapter I am a legacy for?

It's great to hear that you are open minded and willing to consider other chapters. Every sorority will have noted that you are a legacy to whatever house it is. My sorority tends to release in-house legacies unless we know 100% that she has an open mind (why waste the space?). However, if you meet the GPA requirements & click with someone in the house and continue to put us on the houses you want to come back to, you'll most likely not be cut. We are willing to fight for legacies if we feel yall will fight for us. It's a case-by-case thing.

In house legacies are often released, legacies in general are not.

while they will take you under special consideration, there is no guarantee you will get a bid from them. my legacy house dropped me after philanthropy. but now that i'm in my chapter i'm glad they did. just go in with an open mind and it will all work out!

We love getting girls that are legacies to other houses. A lot of houses think the great legacies will automatically go there, but a lot of women are going into recruitment with an open mind.

If a house knows your sister is in another house, you are more than likely dropped...especially if the sister is in a "top 5" house.
