affordability

by:

I am wanting to join a sorority... either in the spring or next fall (I'm a freshman) but my main concern is money and if I would be able to afford it. Are some sororities cheaper than others or are they all around the same? Also, do sororities offer scholarships for academics or any sort of payment plan? Any info would be helpful... thanks!

First go to the UTK panhellinic site and each sorority is listed and their general cost by semester. Then if u are still interested ask panhellinic what they can tell you about how Houses handle payments and scholarships. The cost per House does vary, so do your research first. This way you will know before rush if it will work out for you. Good luck

each sorority is a little different cost... here's a list of what all the houses cost per semester in order from most expensive to least expensive (this is from the panhellenic website and i took the cost for out of house girls.... living in the house the order will change and also new members usually pay a different amount their first year)

AOPI: $1,764
ZTA: $1,685
SK: $1,644
Tri Delt: $1,525
DZ: $1,398
ADPI: $1,353
KD: $1,330
CHI O: $1,155
KKG: $1,030
Phi Mu: $1,017
AXO: $872
Pi Phi: $746.50
DG: $579

as for scholarships, I think most chapters award a few to certain girls based off things like financial need, involvement, academics...

Thought Tri Delt was the rich girls. Looks like AOPi and ZTA are also the rich girls!

I think you also have to consider how many meals a week are provided because it ranges from 13 to 0 SK that makes a big difference aswell

necessarily! aopi and zta are toward the bottom of the list when you look at prices for living in the house... it all just depends. just because a sorority costs more doesn't mean it has the richest girls. not that it matters anyway

Be careful of cost. Some are inclusive some are not. Which means some cost shown don't cover all the extras like tshirts, fees etc and some do.
