recruitment

by:

I got dropped from fall recruitment and it was my second time trying (I went through spring last year). Should I even try again? I want to be in a sorority to meet a great group of girls that are passionate about the same things I am, but I feel like being rejected three times would be bad.

I thought unless you dropped, if you went to all of the parties you were guaranteed a bid?

You can be released from recruitment at any point. You can't truly be "guaranteed" a bid.

You could try Gamma Sigma Sigma. They participate in most of the same events that NPC sororities participate in.

Some of the GSS girls are great, but the Greek community looks down on them. Plus most of their and Sigma Phi Lambda's pledge classes are made up of girls who got dropped from Panhellenic and just want letter and that's not fair to the chapters.

Go away, Gamma Sigma Sigma. We're talking about real sororities here.

Are some reasons you would be dropped?

Getting dropped from recruitment isn't some crazy surprising thing. Think about it - 1,000 girls went through it, and only 800 girls got bids. You can't possibly think 200 girls all decided to quit. Chapters will drop you for various reasons: GPA is a HUGE one, age, your chemistry with other girls, and how you present yourself. It's easy for great girls to fall through the cracks of recruitment, too. Rarely will a chapter specifically vote against a girl, but for someone else. Then, they just don't have any spots left and that girl is not invited back to that house. The more that happens, the more likely a girls is going to get dropped. OP sounds like she knows what she wants out of greek life which is great and all, but there are literally hundreds of girls saying the same thing.

So do you mean age as in 21 or grade as in senior?

It depends on the chapter. Most don't care how old you are as a freshman because you'll be there for four years anyway. The older you are, the harder it is to get in.
