Ranks Change: Find Your Real Home
by: Future Panhel Alum
Let’s be real—sorority rankings don’t actually mean anything. And even if they did, they’re always changing. What’s considered “top” today might not be in a few years, and what’s “mid” now could rise.
Not too long ago at UTK, Kappa Delta and ADPi were considered upper mid, while AOPi and Chi O were top tier. Over time, reputations shifted as different pledge classes came through, new houses were built, and campus dynamics changed. What made a sorority strong in one decade doesn’t necessarily guarantee its status in the next.
At the end of the day, what really matters is finding the chapter where you feel at home. Because when you graduate, nobody cares if your sorority was “ranked higher” on some random list. What lasts are the friendships, the memories, and the experiences you had along the way.

Completely agree! There’s a home for everyone, and sometimes that home isn’t in Greek life at all and that’s okay. My closest friends are in different sororities or not in Greek life, and we’re all super tight. After some of us spent a year in different sorority house, we ended up rooming together in apartments. At the end of the day, it’s about the friendships, memories, and experiences—not rankings. Keep an open mind and be kind!
