rec letter

Do rec letters actually matter? My friend told me that Sigma Kappa requires rec letters but I heard they aren't very selective so it doesn't matter if you have one. Do some chapters just say you have to have one but it doesn't matter?

Just helps you get a little more noticed than the pnm's who don't have them. That's about it. Rec letters do not, almost ever, mean you'll get a bid.

Yet some houses will drop you if you don't. Recs can help keep you in the first few rounds so houses can get to know you better. Also, turning in a rec is a way to let soroities know that you are interested in them. And that's a good thing.
