Physical Houses

by: MLS

After visiting this weekend, it was a shock to see the condition of the frat houses vs the pristine gated community of the sororities. Is this because most nationals don’t want to invest because they have to increase their budget on legal fees?

I don’t know about the nationals of groups, but the fraternity houses are old compared to the sorority houses that were built in 2014. The functions that are allowed to be held in sorority houses vs fraternity houses also explains the difference in conditions. Sororities cannot have any parties whatsoever like fraternities are able to have. Women also in general take better care of their spaces and care more of the aesthetics. But the biggest reason is: sorority houses new. Fraternity houses old.

They are in terrible condition. I don’t understand why the university doesn’t demand they fix them up. I’m not even sure most would pass a building inspection. I would bet many are not up to code. It’s embarrassing when you look at the houses at other SEC schools? Most of the UT houses should be condemned.
