Why is Pi Phi looked down on so much?

by: pnm

is there even a real reason or is it one of those “everyone just needs someone to hate on” just curious i see a lot of negative talk about them even though they’re described as “kind and nice”

Pi Phis strive to be the most DEI. sorority. New national policy offers membership to all genders, races and creeds.

You're under every post about Pi Phi saying the same thing. Pi phi does emphasize inclusiveness but, one, not in the manner you make it sound and, two, you make it seem like something distasteful. Get a life and stop bashing pi phi for allowing people in based on their character instead of whatever shallow standards you prescribe to.

truly, there is no reason for it, especially in recent years. they’re really improving on their chapter, they had the most service hours in Greek life last semester, and they are really involved. it’s just easy for people to hate on them.

Yes, congratulations to true tried friend for having the strongest sisterhood on campus, truly devoted to each other and for being actively involved in many charitable organizations in and around town.

I do wonder what'll happen to them when Alpha Gamma Delta comes to campus next year. I've seen that girls would rather take on building a new chapter rather than join a struggling chapter to try to turn it around.

Close. Alpha Gamma Delta will probably purchase the house.

When Pi Phi celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2017 there were 140 collegiate chapters but today only 133. Nine collegiate chapters have closed and only 2 new chapter colonized in past six years. Very sad.

Nothing. Struggling according to what? Membership is strong enough to cover their expenses plus.

Phi Mu has had 228 charters since their founding and have lost 92 which is 40 percent. Pi Beta Phi have had 206 and have lost 73 which is 35 percent. Members equals money coming in.

'Pi Phi is going to fold' has been going around for more than 20 years. They have been at UTK since 1948. They are not. Going. Anywhere.

You need not worry. It will be okay. Go to sleep. Turn on your sound machine. Lol. Don’t worry and obsess. Things will play out. They have there niche and even if it’s not KD’s, Phi Mu, ADPi or DDD it is still okay.

How many new members did Pi Phi get? Make quota in 2023? Sorority has tried very earnestly to be more DEI. and participate in more charitable causes rather than meaningless fraternity social exchanges. Other Tennessee sororities should follow Pi Beta Phi lead!

They are a great mix and that is what they get. Woke. You can be anything there. If that is for you go for it. Not everyone agrees with all things being okay so if liberal ideologies are not your deal go somewhere else.

I was a conservative in pi phi. I felt welcomed. No one is super political. There were a few but overall the girls were just looking for a place to meet long-lasting friends and to serve the community. If anything we didn't want to overlook someone who could be a sweet or funny friend because of how they looked or anything liked that. Pi phi is about friendship period. I feel like I found that there.

Tennessee Gamma Chapter got 66 girls and that's half of quota, much better than last year's 56 member class. Perhaps cob and Spring 2024 recruitment will further increase total chapter size.
However Alpha Gamma Delta will be colonizing with a few months.

The fact you used the term woke tells everyone here everything they need to know about you. You people can't even define the word much less use it correctly.

My roommate is a pi phi and we've been talking about this, they're only like 40 members under quota. They usually pick up close to that in cob anyway. Also I've been present for all extension discussions in regards to AGD. They are not purchasing pi phi's house. AGD nationals is really focused on expansion right now, not trying to take the place of a longer existing chapter. As of now AGD plans to build their own house to have a more secure reestablishment. There's actually discussion of building another section to sorority village to open more room for more chapters that wish to establish or reestablish a chapter on campus. Pi phi is working hard to build back up, and is already showing success in just that. As Panhellenic women we should be rooting for them instead of spreading misinformation and speculating on their downfall. These rumors have circulated for years, pi phi will be just fine.

Frequently, a new chapter will come onto a campus with a big splash but a couple of years later, they sink to the bottom.
