You need to ask around. This is a lesson in networking.

Ask your high school teachers. Ask your mom's friends. Ask people at your church. Ask your mom's co-workers. Ask people that you work with in the summer, if you have a summer job.

If they were Greek, but not the GLO you need, ask if they know someone who can help you from ABC organization. Greek women know other Greek women.

If all else fails contact your area alumnae panhellenic and ask for help.

That is very unusual. Many darling accomplished girls are dropped simply because they do not have a rec. Be on the safe side. Get recs!

You got good advice from K and Actually. Don't risk it. If you go to the Panhellenic Affairs website and look under Sorority Chapter info, you'll see that some of the sororities require at least one rec. Even the ones that don't require them still say they're advised. I know this has been brought up before on this and other sites, but is your mom on Facebook? (Or an older sister, an aunt, etc.) See if they'll post that you're looking for recs and ask if any of their friends are alumnae (or if they know any.) I really know quite a few PNMs who were connected with ladies who gave them recs this way. Really make every effort to cover your bases. Good luck with recruitment!
