should i even bother?

by:

I'm going to be a junior next fall, and I've been trying to save up to afford going Greek. I finally can, only I didn't get any bids for this past spring recruitment. Some people have told me to go for fall, but a lot have said that it's hard since I'm an upperclassman and am "too old." Should I even bother? I really want to go Greek, but getting rejected twice kinda sucks...

too old. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but nobody wants a random junior in their pledge class. You won't get picked because you'll be older than all the other pledges and that's just weird.

A lot of chapters have an upper classmen quota that they have to fill. So saying chapters don't give bids to juniors is completely inaccurate. Your chances may not be as good as incoming freshman but you still have a chance of getting a bid.

Not true at all. I know a girl who pledged when she was 22 and a sophomore

There's an upperclassman quota that could help you out. Everyone going through fall recruitment needs an open mind, but you'll really need to keep one since some chapters might drop you only because you're a junior. Since you just tried spring, you know there's not as many sororities doing it or as many bids. Fall is totally different, so if you really want to be Greek, don't give up until you've given fall a chance. Get recs to every sorority and meet as many sorority members as you can. It never hurts to know people on the inside (as long as it's in a good way)and it could be a really important thing in your case to have people fighting for you. Give it your best and good luck!
