fall rush
by: Junior TransferHi! I am thinking about transferring to UTK next year and if I did, I would want to go greek. I am a legacy for two chapters, but of course I would keep an open mind when rushing as to which chapter would be best for me. I've heard that being a junior hurts you when rushing. Is that true? If I'm a legacy is there a greater chance of getting accepted into those chapters? Basically, just wanting to know if I would have a good chance of getting bids from sororities.

Careful is right and Pan Love is giving you some bad info. Being a legacy doesn't help much these days. It used to, but now there are so many legacies coming through that there's no way sororities can take them all. Some do get in, so it can go both ways, but just don't count on it as something that's going to help a lot. As for being junior, it's always harder for non-freshmen in the SEC, but UTK is one of the schools that has an upperclassman quota. That can help, but you're really going to need to be open to all chapters. That shouldn't be hard because they're all big, have great women, philanthropies, social calendars and brand new houses. Also, get recs to every sorority and good luck!

To the original poster...some one is giving you information that is absolutely not true. Unfortunately, being a legacy does not carry much weight anymore. Many cute girls are cut from chapters whose mothers and sometimes sisters were in those chapters even at that school. "Pan love" is being deceptive and knows it. PLEASE do not come to this site and expect to find anything that resembles the truth. I am trying to be helpful, but don't even trust MY post. It's that bad!!!
