tiers??

by:

What is the point of the tiers? I've never heard of them before and they seem to cause a lot more drama than they're worth tbh.

An unmeasurable lose concept that allows immature, insecure, people to feel superior to others. There is no real standard of what makes one top, middle or lower (to use the word "bottom" is just beyond the pale in my opinion.) It may be which is perceived to have the prettiest girls (they all have beautiful girls), which is the hardest to get into (some target only certain areas or certain high schools and only bid girls who active members know personally) and so on. The tragedy is that girls look at this site before recruitment and think that they have decided which sororities are "good" and which are not and then they go into recruitment and hear talk from others who have bought into the same BS. This is a BIG MISTAKE. Many end up heartsick after they have rejected a perfectly wonderful group because they only wanted "top tier." Unfortunately this realization sets in when it's too late. PNMs should do themselves a favor and give all houses a chance and resist preconceptions. Basically...tiers are total BS and this site is full of false info by silly members trying to make themselves look better than others. Beware.

p.s. The vast majority of active members never post or even look at this site and consider it an unfortunate joke.

and sadly UT recruitment seems to have a high pnm drop out rate, around 20%. this is because 1.a pnm thinks she does not like the houses that like her or 2. she doesn't think greek life is for her for the same reason just stated. either way BIG mistake to drop out. If everyone stayed in the process greek life would be even stronger and the "tier" concept wiped out. Freshman year is the best shot for sorority life and the new houses make all the sororities even better and they all offer the same experience.

Plenty of girls are missing out on Greek Life because they bought into the "tier talk." They later saw what a huge mistake they made and now have to live with knowing they probably could have had a great sisterhood, fun social schedule and chances for helping charities, leadership and meeting a lot of people. Coming to this site before recruitment is one of the worst things a PNM can do!

Can agree with the above statements. I dropped from recruitment because my main houses I wanted didn't want me and I knew the rest of the sororities that called me back were all "lower tier" so I thought I would be unhappy there and now I get to watch all the houses have fun and I got no sisters and no home away from home out of the situation.

I have a friend who did the same thing and really regrets it, especially with one of the two sororities that invited her to pref. Boy, was she ever wrong about them. Well, she was wrong about both of them, but one would have been an amazing fit for her. She knows it and has been so sad all semester.
